Egyptian Art

We started this year studying Egyptian Art. I set up stations so they could learn about Egypt. Our stations included: an archeology dig, how to draw a pyramid, create your own paintbrush using sticks and feathers, build a pyramid using blocks, draw fish and crocodiles in the Nile river, and draw Egyptian clothing. Next we started our projects - yes I brought out glitter and colored sand! 5th graders created a cartouche and Egyptian by printmaking the background and drawing a profile of an Egyptian. 4th graders created Egyptian self portraits using black paper and metallic paint. 3rd graders created huge sarcophagus' using symmetry, lines and patterns. 2nd graders created Egyptian landscapes with watercolors and sand. 1st graders created Egyptian cats also using their entire paper combining shapes. Kindergarten created Egyptian collars and bracelets focusing on lines and patterns. I even dressed up like an Egyptian! They keep asking when she is coming back but I'm finding it hard to wear a sheet for an entire week again!!
